I Will Love You, & Twitter You All the Days of My Life

Did We Just Witness a Twitter Marriage Proposal? via kwout

A few days ago, lthumann inspired me to get back to twittering (Thanks, Lisa!) and I’m so glad I did 🙂 How else would I have heard about what could be the next trend in marriage proposals? Where will twitter bring us next?

This quickly got me strolling down memory lane, thinking about my man & the day he proposed in August ’99 (Narragansett Bay Cliffs, Newport, RI)- Great Memories!

If you too are already experiencing marital bliss, then you probably agree that every day is more blissful than the last….(yes, my husband is in the room while I’m writing this 🙂 ) So, please leave a comment below about how the big question got popped for you- were you the popper or the popee? Make us cry, make us laugh, make us say “awhhhh, that’s so cute!”

In a few weeks, I will put all of your comments in a poll and we will vote on the “most memorable” – I can’t wait!

On my 21st birthday, after dinner out with my family, we walked the last few blocks home in the gently falling snow. I got down on one knee and asked him to marry me. That was, um, more than a decade ago. We’re still very happy together.:-)

After dating for five years, I took her out to Charlie Trotters, a super fancy place here in Chicago. For dessert, I gave the waiter some special fortune cookies that I had rigged (we’ve always been into fortune cookies). When she cracked hers open, her fortune popped the question. When she looked up, I went down on one knee.

I’m still pretty giddy that she said yes 🙂

What was he thinking? I was working until 10 PM but my boyfriend was still waiting in the lobby when I was done at work. Unbeknown to me he had changed dinner reservations several times waiting for me to finish working (at a proprietary school so many years ago I don’t want to tell you!). I was touched that he waited and remember thinking how lucky am I that this guy would wait from 8 o’clock for me to go to dinner on a Thursday night.

When we arrived at the restaurant they seated us in a very romantic spot, there was a rose on the table and a bottle of champagne chilling next to us. I barely noticed it all when I saw him reach into his jacket and take out this beautiful crystal box. The rest is a blur but after he completed what was doubtless a beautiful proposal I was so dumbfounded all I said was, “OK!”.

We have been together for 21 years and have three fabulous kids and it is still bliss (he is not in the room!).
