DEN at Fallingwater

fallingwaterI’ve been to a lot of great DEN events in the past 3 years, but I have to say that this past weekend’s LC event at Fallingwater was one of my absolute favorites.  Why?  First of all, it was a beautiful sunny day in the Keystone State.  Second, the facilities couldn’t have been nicer.  Our sessions took place in The Barn (a nice combination of rustic country and modern technology).  Third, the sessions were awesome and students helped present!  Hands-on geocaching, a great Animoto/Sketch Up overview, and Bridget’s Top Ten Web Resources made up the first half of the day.  Lots of cool ideas and tools for using DE streaming content with everything we learned.  Finally, after lunch we took a group tour of Frank Lloyd Wright’s famous Fallingwater.

Thanks to the PA DEN LC for organizing the day.

Check out Bridget’s post for more.

The day was wonderful. The session was so interesting! Thanks for providing the opportunity for us to come together with fellow educators for a great learning experience. The top ten websites are great as was our geocaching experience. The tour of Fallingwater was a huge bonus! Thanks!

Thank you for a great day of collaboration and fun! I’m excited to attempt making a video with Animoto of a recent field trip, and I know my students and I will find ways to use Sketch Up in the classroom. I especially enjoyed seeing how the student presenters use this program and the enthusiasm they have for it.
Kathy and I were sharing our geocaching experience with other staff at lunch yesterday. There was some confusion in the room… cache vs. cash, a log you sign vs. a log from a tree. So, we recruited Bridget and hopped in the car to go out and find a real cache. We only had 30 minutes before we had to be back at school, but we found one right up the road. No more confusion… our colleagues can’t wait to go out again, so we’re planning a staff geocaching event!
