Giving Thanks

As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I’m thinking about what I am thankful for.  My life is filled with many blessings – far too many to list here – but I’d like to highlight a couple:

  • First, I am thankful to be alive.  After experiencing a serious accident four years ago, I am grateful that I survived to face another day.  I’m grateful to be alive not just on Thanksgiving but every day.   Even on the days that are gray and bleak – the kind that make you want to crawl back under the covers.  Even on the days that I have to face upleasant tasks or difficult people.  Even on the days that are challenging and that I would choose not to relive.  Living through a near death experience, saves your life and changes it forever.
  • Second, but no less important, I am thankful for my many friends and colleagues.  They provide guidance and support.  They willingly share their ideas, expertise and resources every day.  They are there for me and for their students and colleagues.   They inspire me and keep me going.

Have I gotten you thinking?  Now it’s your turn.  What are you thankful for?
