Beyond the Textbook
A Day of Discovery for Michigan Educators
Join MACUL’s Keynote Speaker, Steve Dembo, for an engaging, technology-infused professional development workshop focused on creative ways to use digital media in the classroom. Learn techniques to inspire your students and maximize the resources from Discovery Education streaming.
A former kindergarten teacher and school Director of Technology, Discovery Education’s Online Community Manager Steve Dembo is a pioneer in the field of educational social networking. Among the first educators to realize the power of blogging, podcasting, Twitter, and other Web 2.0 technologies to connect educators to one another and create professional learning communities, Dembo has been instrumental in the explosive growth of the Discovery Educator Network and its online presence at http://community.discoveryeducation.com/.
Concurrent sessions will run throughout the day with presentations from STAR Discovery Educators and Discovery Education staff. Topics include:
* Universal Design for Learning
* Web 2.0 for Administrators
* Best of MACUL Debriefing
* Humanities and STEM: A Data-Driven Approach
Hands-on time is built into the schedule. Please Bring Your Own Laptop if at all possible. We have a limited supply of laptops for check-out.
