Breaking the Silence of Mental Illness

Did you know that on average one of every five students in your class is living with someone who suffers from mental illness? Mental Illness is one of the leading causes of disability in this country, but is not talked about nearly often enough. Such a stigma remains attached to mental illness that many people do not get the education or treatment they need.
Lorraine Kaplan and Janet Susin are educators, mothers, and advocates who have seen how the silence associated with mental illness can throw a child’s life tragically off course. Because of this, they created fully-scripted lesson plans for teachers to open a dialogue about mental illness with students and their families.
Tuesday, April 27 at 7pm, Lorraine Kaplan and Janet Susin are doing a special webinar Breaking the Silence: Mental illness in our schools. Come join us and learn about this curriculum available for upper elementary, middle, and high schools. Let’s break the silence about mental illness and learn how to better support our students.
