Hopefully you all have been able to listen to/watch the DE webinar with Phillipe Cousteau on the Gulf Oil Spill. If not, here’s a link to the archive. It’s a really great resource for your students to understand more about the long-term ramifications of this environmental disaster.
To back up this great resource, I’d like to share another that does a really great job of organizing and explaining everything going on with the spill. The New York Times website has a wonderful Interactive Map that tracks:
- The Gulf Oil Spill Timeline
- Where it has Made Landfall
- Efforts to stop the Leak
- Effects on Wildlife
It’s a great tool for a few reasons:
- Everything is easy to access on one site
- Effective images to support the facts
- Archived by dates
- Interactive!!!
