Discovery Education and Miami-Dade County Public Schools

Students and teachers from across Maimi-Dade County Public Schools celebrated the partnership between Miami-Dade County Public Schools and Discovery Education on Monday, August 16, 2010 at the Biscayne Bay Nature Center.  The day began with a welcome from Miami-Dade County Superintendent Alberto Carvahlo who introduced Philippe Cousteau who talked to the students about their role in protecting the environment.  During the visit students explored online digital content from Discovery Education Science as they learned about abiotic and biotic factors and the human impact on ecosystems.  Students also explored Biscayne Bay as they learned about algae and the bay habitat.  It was a wonderful launch to an impactful partnership.

This would be a great lesson and adventure for all schools right now after the terrible oil spill that hit the Gulf. It would be a great thing to use if to talk about what would happen around where you live now if there was an environmental disaster! SO many ways you can go with this.

Thank you for the sensible critique. Me & my friend were just preparing to do some research on this. We got a book from our local library but I think I learned better from this post. I am very glad to see such fantastic information being shared freely out there.
