Florida DEN Fun

Discovery and the Florida DEN are hosting several fun filled days for Florida Den members in January and February.

The first event is a live SCIcon event on January 22nd in Bradenton, Florida.  SCIcon is a great way to network with other science teachers. This event will not only feature a DEN Science Guru, but also a Keynote speech by Discovery’s Reed Timmer. This blended virtual and  live event includes lunch, and promises to be a great way to learn how to incorporate digital content into your science classroom. You will get new ideas for project based instruction and  learn new technology and other  “tricks of the trade” to help you engage your young scientists. The event will be held at Electa A Lee Magnet Middle School, 4000 53rd Ave West, Bradenton, FL . SCIcon is a must for all science teachers.

The next event is a STAR-studded affair at FETC on February 1st. If you will be at FETC, plan on attending the  DEN pre-conference event, which is a great way to connect with fellow STAR Discovery Educators from all over the country. This year the  DEN’s pre-conference day will  include special guests like Kathy Schrock, Hall Davidson and a networking lunch with FETC’s opening keynote speaker, Reed Timmer from Discovery Channel’s hit series Stormchasers. The event is free and as always you will come away with great ideas to use in your classroom and a few new friends. Bring your laptops, iPads, cameras and any other device you want to use to capture the day. Discovery will be hosting this event in the Orange County Convention Center, room  S230D. It begins at 8:30 and it will end at 2:30, so that you can attend the opening Key note speech. We hope to have a great turn out and we look forward to meeting you at FETC.
