@DEN no more!

When the DEN first began using Twitter, we chose the username @DEN. It seemed like a great idea at the time, especially with the character limit in mind. However, since then we’ve found out that the Discovery Educator Network wasn’t the only thing that the word “DEN” referenced. For example anybody who misses their connection in Denver winds up cursing their time @DEN. If you’re a Bronco’s fan, you might find yourself rooting for @DEN. And if you just so happen to be a fan of dutch football (aka soccer), then you probably tweet quite a bit about the Den Haag. Because of all these other uses for DEN, the majority of postings referencing @DEN have little to do with Discovery.

We tried to get the rest of the world to realize that there’s only one DEN and they should change their ways, but they refused to listen. Because of this, we’re making a change to our Twitter presence today.

Going forward, @DEN is now becoming @DiscoveryED! If you already follow @DEN, you do not need to do a thing. All followers will be moved over seamlessly, and any lists that include @DEN will now include @DiscoveryED. But if you have any bookmarks, you should adjust them accordingly so you’re referencing the right account. And while it may be eight more characters, we hope it will make it even easier to keep up with the DEN and Discovery Education on Twitter.

Can’t get enough Discovery? Then you may want to follow some of these other accounts as well!
