Tennessee should be proud…

Last week I had the pleasure of touring Tennessee from Knoxville all the way to Memphis with some of my DEN colleagues.  Tennessee is always a joy to visit, especially when I get to meet new DEN members and learn from them!  I was able to reconnect with some members of the LC in Knoxville, visit with colleagues from our Nashville office, and join in some of the excitement with a large group of Memphis educators.  Why were they so excited?  Because President Obama was paying their district a visit!

Booker T. Washington High School Won the Race to the Top Commencement Challenge, so last Monday President Obama surprised graduates and then gave the commencement speech.  In case you missed it, take a look at some of the following resources.

See the press release here.

Congratulations to the students, families, and faculty of Booker T. Washington!

I think its great that a Tennessee school won !!!!! I just wish more of the smaller schools in rural areas could have oppertunities to be recognized. Our school (Blanche) in Taft Tn has done many great things, like starting a bullying program before it was popular thing. We have outstanding kids that go here. I am proud to say I work here and absolutely love all the kids.
