Weebly in the Media Center

I recently purchased a yearly subscription to Weebly (www.weebly.com)  for several reasons–
1-  to allow my students to submit library book suggestions to me via email,
2- to give my students a place to ask technical questions via email,
3- to create an online “form” for staff members to submit purchasing requests.

What I didn’t know was that this small yearly fee would also give me 40 FREE student accounts.   I use the free accounts with my “Junior Media Specialists”… a club of students who volunteer to assist with all things media at our school.   My JMSs  are now writing their own book review websites, and have the ability to attach moderated BLOGS to these sites.  I sent home a letter with login information and basic instructions.  Within days, my 4th and 5th grade students had created wonderful sites on their own.  As the sites are ready for an audience, the students ask me to help them “publish” for the world to see.

The twist is that our sites/ blogs are all from the point of view of the students’ pets, and they are connected to my cat’s site!  Check out our sites and blogs here-  they are a work in progress but we are very motivated to write book reviews and keep this project going.
