It’s March, Let the Madness Begin

Every March, there’s a little buzz in the air.  For some, it’s the feeling that spring is around the corner.  For others, it’s knowing that Spring Break is coming up and teachers will get a little time off.  For others yet, it’s the fact that college basketball is reaching it’s pinnacle event – March Madness and the NCAA Tournament.  For the Discovery Educator Network, it’s means the second year of the DEN March Madness.  If didn’t know about the event last year, you can read about it here.

Like last year, we’ll be holding our own little March Madness event.  We will be sharing 16 different tools, all great with Discovery Education resources and you’ll vote which ones should advance to the next round.  This time around, we’re running things a little differently though.  We will have 4 different regions, with 4 tools in each.  You’ll vote to see which ones advance, ultimately leading to the Final Four tools.  From that point, you’ll decide the ultimate champion.

We’re not releasing what tools will be a part of the Madness, but below are the dates for each round.  Check back this weekend for the initial brackets!

  • 1st Round: Starts on Tuesday, March 13 – same day as the real big dance.  Voting Ends at Midnight, EST on Sunday, March 18th
  • 2nd Round Starts Monday, March 19th.  Voting ends at Midnight EST, on Friday, the 23rd.
  • Final 4 – Starts Saturday, March 24th.  Voting ends at Midnight EST on Friday, the 30th
  • Championship – Starts Saturday, March 31st, ends at Midnight EST on April 2nd.

In my opinion, West Virginia and Syracuse are the two best teams in the Big East this season, and both will be in the Big East Conference Championship. Syracuse is the most complete team in the conference and maybe the nation, playing textbook team basketball every single game.
