The Exploring Joara Foundation is offering summer workshops for formal
and informal educators. Participants explore the science of
archaeology through a combination of classroom activities and
archaeological fieldwork. Worth up to 2.0 CEUs.
Sessions in Morganton, NC:
June 24th – 25th
July 19th – 20th
On the first day, participants learn fundamental concepts of
archaeology and explore inquiry-based activities to use in the
classroom. On the second day, participants apply what they’ve learned
as they excavate alongside professional archaeologists at the Berry
site, a sixteenth-century Spanish fort and Native American village.
Workshop cost: $60
Optional room & board in our air-conditioned field house: $30/night
