On Thursday, May 17, the Annual DENny Awards were streamed live for the world to see!
One of the first awards Wisconsin was represented in for the evening was the “Most Creative DEN Event” :  “DEN & the City”.  DEN Guru Finalist Peg Hartwig and 11 other DEN members from across the nation organized an amazing four day weekend in Chicago in April. They did some geocaching, went to museums and networked and shared while having fun, ending with a final quest to visit Mike Bryant and his staff at the new Discovery Education branch offices down town Chicago. This was by far one of the most creative events ever and deserved the Most Creative DEN Event of the Year!

Julie Jenewein, an ELL teacher from Verona, WI was named one of several “Rising Stars” Julie was recently nominated due to her involvement as a new STAR. Julie presented at the Wisconsin Educational Media Technology Association Conference and has been doing some great things in the classroom with iPads. Congratulations Julie!

Rachel Yurk  was awarded  “Community Choice for  Leadership” in DEN LC organization and communication.  We are all very happy with the synergy Rachel has created, reaching out to our state wide stars through her monthly newsletters and DEN Event communication.

The last Community Choice Award for the evening went to Peg Hartwig.  She received the Spirit of the DEN.  When Chad Lehman joined the Discovery Team, that left a big spot on the WI blog team to fill. “Peg did not wait for the ink to dry, and stepped up. Peg is constantly sharing and constantly jumping in to help others with energy and excitement ” stated Porter Palmer.  What a pleasure to have Peg sharing quality information on the Wisconsin Blog.

Wisconsin was pleased to have two schools with as finalists in the Dr. Lodge Video Challenge Finalist. The two finalists were Rachel Yurk and Cathy Houchin. You can check out their videos on the DEN site.

Wisconsin is also proud to name Peg Hartwig as one of the 2012 DEN Guru Finalists. Peg’s amazing presentation was on closing the STEM gap. It was impressive and Wisconsin is lucky to have her as our STEM Guru!

Congratulations to all the DEN members who earned recognition or award. You are all very deserving of these accolades.
