Impact Day at Boys and Girls Club of Great Washington

A continuation of the Discover Your Impact Day posts!

Thank you to our friends at Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington in Washington, DC for accepting our help for the day.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Washington is a safe haven for children who would be either home alone or on the street if the clubs didn’t exist. To learn more about the organization please refer to their website.

Payal, alongside other Discovery employees, were on site Friday. Here is what she had to say about her experience.

Payal: “It was a very humbling experience. I realized we take so many things for granted in our lives, that we forget, what it is to not have those things to begin with. What did I get by giving  back to our community? A sense of satisfaction and accomplishment. I cannot wait for the students to come into the Boys and Girls Club building for the Summer Camp, and be vowed by the new and fresh look. Discovery is a great company that is involved in its community, and I am so proud to work for Discovery.”

Thanks for sharing about another Impact Day! I too, am so impressed by Discovery Education’s genuine community presence! You all give educators great strength in believing that care and support for communities can impact our growth as a strong, healthy, educated nation!
I know that this impact day was a systemic effort, where ALL satellite / state branches were invested in reaching out to the community because even in WI, our DE contacts were out of the office and in the community. I applaud all of DE!

I’m the Teen Director at the Richard England Boys & Girls Club…I was onsite during Impact Day. I just want to say our club members were very excited to see the new paint throughout the club!! Our teens were also very happy to see such an inspirational mural added to their room. It’s amazing to see them enter the room and say “Hey..something looks different in here..oh when did you add that to the wall?!” Once again thank you all for everything!!
