The first Colorado LC Spotlight for October is Cate Beck!
I serve as an instructional coach and 21st Century Learning Coordinator at Pine Lane Elementary (Douglas County School District). It is one of the coolest jobs ever, as I get to combine my interests in staff development and technology integration. I also provide staff development at the district level.
For 14 years prior to this role, I was a special education teacher in both private and public schools.
I am a DEN STAR Educator. I have been part of the DEN National Leadership Council for three years and am thrilled to be part of the blog team for the Colorado Leadership Council. I have loved Discovery Education ever since I started in Douglas County 6 years ago. It was a great tool for engaging my special education students and it allowed them to learn content that might not otherwise be accessible to them.
In addition to my involvement with Discovery Education, I am also a certified SMART Board trainer and am a Google Apps for Education Qualified Individual. I have been a presenter for a number of state/regional technology conferences and special education conferences.
I am a life-long learner–constantly inspired by my fellow coworkers and most of all, my 6 year old son.
