by Holly Goldberg Sloan

A great story about overcoming grief, the meaning of family, and being comfortable with who you are. Willow is a 12 year old genius who has a love for plants and medical conditions. She categorizes everything in her life and lives by her own set of rules. She finds comfort in counting by 7s. When tragedy strikes, Willow must learn to adapt and change. She learns the true meaning of family and what it means to start over.
Told from alternating voices this is a heartwarming story about how a young girl can overcome her grief and loss and move on with the help of a few friends. It is at times funny, sad, moving, but also very realistic. The characters are well developed and the reader becomes a part of the story. It was hard to put down once you started – you just want to know what happens and how Willow makes out in the end.
