Mousey Monday – Black History Month

Happy Mousey Monday to our Cache and Cookies readers!  February is Black History Month in the United States, and Canada. The annual observance is also known as African-American History Month. The month long observance is for the remembrance of important people and events in the history of the African community. The first celebration of Black History Month was in February 1970.

Discovery Education has a Black History Month Content Collection that you can share in your classrooms. The Content Collection includes videos, writing prompts, images, puzzles and teacher guides for grades K-5, 6-8 and 9-12.

The Teacher Guides and puzzle PDF’s are listed under the Materials tab within the Content Collection.

There are so many iconic, historical figures in African American History such as Martin Luther King, Rosa Parks, Jackie Robinson and Nelson Mandela just to name a few. Discovery Education has so many resources to bring these historical figures to life in your classrooms. If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to tweet us at @DESupportStars with #mouseymondays! We would love to hear how you used our resources in your classrooms. We hope you and your students have a great week!
