STAR events come in all shapes and sizes. While most people tend to log events that they’ve done within their own district, this week we’re turning our eye to a presentation shared by Karie Huttner at the 2014 ICE Conference in Illinois! Karie is a Wisconsin STAR hailing from Stoner Prairie Elementary in the Verona Area School District. Along with her colleague Amy Klubertanz, she presented “Discovery Education: Common Core and Creation” to a packed room of educators eager to learn.
This workshop focused on the resources that Discovery Education provides you. A specific focus was on new features – the Common Core strands and a new student creation tool called Board Builder were shared. The session was a blend of formal presentation, sharing, and creation. Participants learned about the amazing tools that are provided in DE as well as examples of student work using Board Builder.
In addition to both of the DEN Star Educator presenters, a team of DEN members helped answer questions and showcase the power of the DEN both through the product and through the even more powerful connections of dedicated educators.
Please join us in giving Karie the DEN Finger in appreciation for sharing her expertise with the attendees at ICE 2014!
