Mousey Monday – Cinco de Mayo

Happy Mousey Monday everyone! Today is Cinco de Mayo!

Cinco de Mayo is celebrated in the United States and some parts of Mexico, primarily in the state of Puebla. The holiday originated with Mexican-American communities in the American West as a way to celebrate the cause of freedom and democracy through the first years of the American Civil War. Today, the holiday is meant to celebrate Mexican heritage and pride.

Discovery Education offers a Cinco de Mayo Content Collection which includes resources geared towards all grade levels! The Content Collection has videos, a writing prompt, a quiz and so much more!

The Writing Prompt under this Content collection helps students to argue their own Favorite Holiday, getting students to think and express their opinions, ideas and thoughts on various topics.
