Event of the Week: November 5, 2014

This week we’re learning about how Patrick Vernon, a STAR Discovery Educator from Western Alamance Middle School in North Carolina provided support to his colleagues using Discovery Education. Patrick shared that while teachers had access to Discovery Education for a few years and had recently begun using the Discovery Education Benchmark Assessments, there was still apprehension about making use of the all the resources in Discovery Education. Patrick set up a session to provide additional support to his colleagues, here’s what he shared,

“This workshop was a judgement-free time for teachers to delve into DE more. For some teachers that was learning they could save video favorites to “My Content.” Others learned how to narrow down their resource searches to more than streaming video clips. We showed the math teacher in attendance that “there really are videos for you too.”

Thanks for sharing your love for Discovery Education and providing a customized session for your colleagues! Be sure to connect with Patrick on twitter at @ElonTeacher.
