Calling all English and drama teachers!

Join us for a discussion about the pedagogy of Shakespeare, as field expert Alexander Parker leads another webinar about teaching Shakespeare in high school.

WordPlay Shakespeare

WordPlay: MacBeth

Tuesday, November 18 at 7:00pm ET. Register from the event page, HERE. (Click the “Register” link next to “Event status: Not started” on the event page.)

Join Alexander Parker, creator of the series WordPlay, as he discusses the possibilities when you combine the text from a play with live performance. Learn how to help your students interpret the language and appreciate the nuances in Shakespeare’s great works.

Mr. Parker will introduce a new instructional tool and present ways to integrate it into classroom practice. There will also be an opportunity to exchange ideas with other educators.

Along with the webinar, Discovery Education is pleased to announce WordPlay, a new resource available in Discovery Education Streaming. This series features three of Shakespeare’s plays that are popular on high school lists: MacBethRomeo and Juliet, and A Midsummer Night’s Dream. Each of these plays is presented in its entirety — but in a unique way: all of the text appears on the left side of the screen while actors perform the lines on the right side of the screen. Students can read along and also watch the actors for enhanced comprehension. Just search “wordplay” in your Discovery Education search bar.
