Did you know that one of the most notable and sought after postage stamps is actually a misprint, featuring an upside down plane? It’s true!
An “Inverted Jenny”, as it’s known (because it features a Curtiss JN-4 aircraft) sold for nearly a million dollars in 2007. Its unintentionally humorous upside down biplane image is known the world over, and mentions of the stamp in TV and media, as well as stories of forgeries and thefts of the stamp, have made it one of the most famous stamps in history.
