Working on your weekly lesson plans? Our new Sunday blog series, Lively Lessons, will provide you with Discovery Education content and lesson plan ideas!
The new year has brought some serious winter weather to many areas, causing school delays and cancellations. With everyone talking about the weather, why not incorporate it as a narrative writing lesson with your students? Using Writing Prompt Builder you can add images, video and sound effects to make your writing prompts come alive! Discovery Education also provides a number of resources for you to view and edit.
When viewing the results of a keyword search, you may have noticed a banner like the one for winter. By selecting this content collection, and clicking on Materials, you will access a variety of resources around this topic as well as Teacher’s Guides, Discussion Guides and Blackline Masters.
Along the right hand side you will find additional media types as well as writing prompts that you can edit and assign to your students!
Select a writing prompt, edit it to make it relevant for your student and then assign to your class. Students can reply to the assignment and you’ll see the results in Classroom Manager.
Or, you might take the writing prompt and ask students to create a BoardBuilder with their response- they could even include images they’ve taken or drawn!
You can access the over 300 content collections by narrowing your search to Media Type, Teach, Content Collection. You can narrow down through that list by subject and grade level.
How will you use the Content Collections or Writing Prompt builder to liven up your lessons this week? Please share your ideas below!
