Then, connect with her and share your favorite ways to use digital media in the classroom.

densiHow do you start your day?
With a hot cup of tea. Then I’m ready to tackle whatever the day holds.

Why did you become a teacher?
To be honest, I kind of fell into it. My friend encourages me to apply for a teaching position at a private school right out of college. But now, I can’t imagine doing anything else.

What is one of your favorite ways to use Discovery Education?
The kids really like 3 Truths and a Lie (or 4 Truths and 2 Lies…whatever we have time for). It’s fun to pair it up with a tool like Kahoot to make it even more interactive.

How are you involved in education aside from your role as educator?
I am an instructor for my district’s center for professional development. I am also a regular speaker at a number of regional technology conferences. I also provide instructional technology consulting services for individual teachers, private schools and charter schools.

What advice do you give to a teacher who is hesitant to use digital media in their classroom?
Digital media will take your students places that you never thought possible. It literally is a window to the world and opens so many doors.

What advice do you have for first year teachers?
Reach out to as many other people as you can. Connect with others. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Take risks.

What sites do you visit to assist in your teaching practice?gnome
Pinterest (it’s not just for crafts and recipes)

What other organizations/groups are you a part of?
Common Sense Media Educator
Graphite Educator
SMART Exemplary Educator and Trainer

What is your most memorable experience with the DEN?
DENSI 2012 in Bozeman. It was amazing to meet my DEN family in person. And, the best week of PD EVER!

When you’re not working, where are we most likely to find you?
In a sunny spot on the front porch with my iPad.

What is your favorite kind of donut?
Glazed. Can’t mess with perfection.

How can others connect with you?
