Another Monday evening and another 5 Ways to Use Discovery Education webinar series in the books. We had a great turn out for June. Apparently the learning never stops. Each month, we are highlighting DEN Community members as they share five unique strategies, tools, or resources for using Discovery Education in your classroom. In case you missed it, here are the educators that were spotlighted along with the resources we shared.
Our Spotlight on Strategy was “Fake Book” presented by Diane Lefebrve of Alberta. You can find this strategy and others inside of Discovery Education by typing in the keywords “Spotlight on Strategies”.
We then showcased Student Center, reminding folks that all students have access. From setting up classrooms and assigning content to providing students with login information so they can search and explore on their own. Also the student blogs provide ideas and content specifically for students.
Kyle introduced Science Fair Central. Another terrific resource that has so many great ideas and artifacts for the classroom. DEN Star Peter Panico from North Carolina, added some great thoughts on how he uses it with his students.
DEN Guru David Fisher shared another creative way to use Discovery Education media by featuring Zaption. Zaption is a great tool for overlaying quizzes, maps and other interactives on existing video, including Discovery Education.
Finally, Leanne Daugherty, another Guru showed how she uses Weebly. Weebly has been around for a while, but many new features, including the ability to have students collaborative on web pages makes it a really great tool for classrooms.
Here’s Leanne’s main Weebly site.
Thanks to those who attended and if you’re interested, please join us next month. Monday, July 27th at 7pm ET by clicking on the event at the Discovery Education Events calendar: http://www.discoveryeducation.com/Events/
