Join Harvey Chambers, principal of Windsor Middle School in Baltimore County Public Schools, as he helps you redefine professional development experiences for your teachers.

Learn how Harvey shifted professional development using  a hybrid of a large traditional conference and an EdCamp giving participants the feel of a conference but personalized learning opportunities to meet their specific needs and interests.  The unconference format created space for peer-to-peer learning, collaboration and creativity.

Harvey Chambers PrincipalHarvey Chambers is the Principal of Windsor Mill Middle School in the Baltimore County Public Schools (BCPS).  He is serving in his 3rd year as Principal in one of seven Lighthouse Middle Schools.   Lighthouse Middle Schools are pilot schools for 1:1 technology integration and student-centered instruction.  Harvey has embraced this opportunity to create rich professional development opportunities for Teachers and authentic learning opportunities for students.  Technology infusion is the norm at Windsor Mill and is seen all throughout the building.

His school serves host to a variety of district site visits as well as external visits from educators from various parts of the country.  You’ll often see a unique display of students at the forefront of learning when visiting his school.  Harvey has been a DENStar for two years now and works closely with Discovery Education to help drive technology integration at his school.  Recently, his school served host to a ‘Night of Innovation’ in partnership with Discovery Education and it was a huge success as students were able to demonstrate their use of Board Builder, Math/Science Techbooks, and other technology tools that make learning fresh and fun.

Harvey is a native of Washington, DC but has been a resident of Baltimore for more than half of his life.  He enjoys traveling, adventure, taking calculated risks, watching good movies, anywhere with warm water, technology and learning new things.  He hopes to one day have a high level executive like President Obama to visit his school.
