Happy Teacher Appreciation Week 2016

Throughout the world, day in and day out, educators like you dedicate their lives to transforming the lives of others. Through incredibly hard work and an unexplainable kindness, teachers spark a love of learning in their students. Teachers help students reach their full potential by encouraging curiosity and exploration.

At Discovery Education, we know how hard teachers work to make a difference in students’ lives. We take great pride in celebrating that dedication through several special activities during Teacher Appreciation Week.

Here’s how we are celebrating in 2016

Spotlight on Strategies

SOSSpotlight on Strategies (SOS) are instructional strategies created by members of your Discovery Education Community to provide research-based ideas for integrating digital media into your curriculum. As a special gift for Teacher Appreciation Week, we created an SOS Bulletin Board Kit you can print and display in your teacher workroom. During Teacher Appreciation Week, try this week’s or another SOS and post photo or video to Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #spotlightonstrategies for a chance to get a printed SOS Bulletin Board Kit shipped to you.

Discovery Education Community Awards

DENny2016At Discovery Education, we believe that teachers deserve recognition for the good work that they do each and every day. We are always on the lookout for great stories of teachers making a difference in the lives of their students and fellow educators. On May 27, we’ll recognize and celebrate Discovery Educators for the good things they are doing in schools and classrooms. Nominate education professionals you know for this special recognition. We want to celebrate as many great teachers and administrators as we can.

DENspiration

serious_denspiration-1Teaching is one of the hardest yet rewarding careers one could choose. Sometimes it can be overwhelming, though. After a pretty frustrating start to school a couple of years ago, Lindsay Foster, a Discovery Education Community member in Texas found a way to encourage herself and others. Each day, she takes a few minutes to share a daily dose of #DENspiration to Twitter to add a bit of cheer and help us all remember that the work we do matters.

We thought you might like to hang some of the Community favorites in your classroom or school. Download five of the top #DENspiration quotes here.
