Everyday educators are using Twitter to connect with new people for new ideas. Using hashtags, retweets, video, and links, ideas are shared and conversations sparked. Often these connections are made during Twitter chats. These chats follow a common hashtag and welcome people to jump in adding their thoughts and ideas. When the smartest person in the room is the room and the room happens to be Twitter… Great things can happen!
One such Twitter chat is #DESTEMchat. On the final Wednesday of each month at 6PM CST, educators come together discussing STEM in education. The who, what, when, where and how takes shape and ideas flow. Missed last month’s? Find the archive here. If you follow #DESTEMchat and want even more STEM connections, join Texas educators and administrators on #TxEdTuesday. This week, it is all about STEM in education. Kevin Worthy, the superintendent of Royse City ISD, says, “(It) is used to encourage people across the state to tweet the great things happening in public education. Our goal is to let our legislators know that public education is the primary CHOICE for ALL students and families. It’s all about “Telling Our Story”.”
We will be live tweeting along with that Twitter Chat while we are hosting the #DEIgnites at SXSW Education tonight from Austin, TX. If you are attending the conference, come join us tonight for the Ignites Live. If you are somewhere else around the world, follow along on Twitter. See you there!
