Saturdays… Oh the good times! Sleeping in, watching TV, staying in pajamas all day. That was NOT the case for over 200 Dallas, TX area educators this past Saturday. #EdCampGarland, hosted by the one and only Mr. Mason (@EdTechMason), was an inaugural event for Garland ISD. Held at Naaman Forest High School, the event was a day full of learning, connecting, and sharing.
As the EdCamp model goes, the agenda was created that morning. When participants arrived, they volunteered for leading and/or learning on different session topics. Education conversations revolved around BreakOutEDU, Classroom Management, Gamification and more! While most participants were Garland ISD educators, they welcomed educators from other districts with open arms anxious to share the learning happening with their students. The enthusiasm and passion from the educators on a Saturday morning was tangible. You can find the schedule (and session notes!) here.
Mr. Mason took to his blog to share the #EdCampGarland experience. He succinctly states his passion and purpose for this edcamps as, “nothing feeds my spirit more than getting educators together to learn, grow, and connect with each other”. Well said!
