How has Discovery Education impacted your teaching or learning?
Through DE, I’ve been able to collaborate and network with amazing educators. The first thing that crossed my mind when I heard about SOS strategies was, “Oh, great! How many more of these “things” are they going keep throwing at us. We already have so many strategies we have to use with our students.”
Being a first year teacher is challenging, so after hearing my frustration, Kitty Taylor, my mentor teacher and DEN STAR, sat me down, gave me the DE talk, showed me how she used DE in her classroom and introduced me to Shelly Mann, our fabulous district instructional technology educator. Shelly encouraged me to become a DEN Ambassador for my school. From there I was able to learn more about DE and my teaching was turned upside down!
Now, I use SOS strategies every day to help engage students in a meaningful way. My students have even used these strategies on their own, a true testimony to how well these strategies work.
I want to attend #DENSI2017 to learn and become the person who inspires other educators explore more of what Discovery Education offers.
