#CelebratewithDE – National Library Week: Blog Post 1

To celebrate National Library Week, we’ve curated some of the best reading resources from Discovery Education, from a review of reading strategies to audio books of classic literature. Use these resources as starting points for celebrating reading and, then, be sure to visit your library and thank a librarian/media specialist. Show us how libraries transform by posting your class activities to Twitter with #CelebratewithDE.

This teaching strategy uses a well-known social media platform to encourage students to investigate and develop an understanding of a person (or character!) of historical (or literary!) significance. Have students create a profile page for an author or a character, requiring them to demonstrate understanding and make connections to important events and individuals of a particular time and place, whether IRL or in literature.
