Know the Risks: The Facts About E-Cigarettes Virtual Field Trip

Tune in Live to the KNOW THE RISKS Virtual Field Trip  April 25th 1 PM EDT

Electronic cigarettes, or e-cigarettes, are now the most commonly used tobacco product among U.S. youth. But do students know the risks associated with these products? The latest U.S. Surgeon General’s Report on E-cigarette use among Youth and Young Adults concludes that nicotine exposure during adolescence can cause addiction and can harm the developing brain.

For this particular Virtual Field Trip, join Discovery Education and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention to examine the science behind e-cigarettes and the impact they can have on teenagers’ health and well-being.

We need your help in understanding how much your students know about the dangers of e-cigarettes. If you agree to view the Know the Risks Virtual Field Trip with your students, we will send you a link to a short assessment you can administer to your students. There are only 8 questions about e-cigarettes, so it should not take long for them to answer. All quizzes will need to be completed before the Live Virtual Field Trip on April 25th at 1:00 PM ET.

If you decide to participate, we will send a follow-up quiz next week after the Know the Risks Virtual Field Trip to determine how much your students have learned. To thank you for your participation, Discovery Education will be sending you a Discovery Education sweatshirt.

Please email Sumner Byrne at for information and instructions. We appreciate your help in this project!
