Happy Teacher Appreciation Week!
As we continue our celebration of educators this week, I wanted to extend a special thank you to all the superintendents who joined us last week in San Diego for our annual Superintendent Symposium. Whether it’s a group of classroom teachers connecting at a Day of Discovery, principals gathering for a day-long summit, or superintendents engaging in rich conversations at the symposium, I am constantly reminded of the power of community. The connections we make with others who share the same mission enrich our personal and professional lives. This leads to positive changes in our schools resulting in good things for students. We’re simply better together.
Here are some of the takeaways shared last Friday…
Emphasizing the importance of joy and leading with love are two ways we can make better learning environments.
Focus your energy on more than measurable tasks. It is often the immeasurable things that make the greatest difference.
Recognize those key pivot points and take advantage of them to make change.
No one has this all figured out, but when you bring us together it feels like collectively we can.
We work for our principals, not the other other way around.
Intentionally interrupt to ensure equity.
Prioritize fun and collegiality at all levels of our organizations.
There are great things happening in districts across North America.
Thank you again, and have a wonderful Teacher Appreciation Week!
