Community Update

Discussed in this week’s update:

    • A brand new DEN STAR process is coming soon! Be sure you’re ready- set up your profile in the DEN Community. Log in to Discovery Education and select Discovery Educator Network (DEN) from the left-side tool bar. Follow the prompts to complete your set up and join conversations happening now. If your profile is complete when we launch the new program in a few weeks, you’ll automatically be added to the group and awarded a new DEN STAR badge and access to resources.
      • If you’re not yet a DEN STAR, we’ll be sharing the new process very soon and we look forward to having you join us!
    • Check out the Professional Learning Center (PLC), in the Learn and Lead section for Toolkits that make sharing easy! These ready-made presentations are available on a variety of topics and make it easy to share Discovery Education with your colleagues. There is even a brand new toolkit to help you share about the DEN Online Community.
    • Fall Events:
      • There are professional learning webinars happening daily to provide you with integration ideas, updates on our services and ways to use Discovery Education resources with your students.
      • Day of Discovery tour is under way- with stops in Texas, California, British Columbia and New York happening this fall. Get the tour dates and register to join us at
      • The 10 Young Scientist Challenge finalists will present their ideas during the live finale on October 17 at 3PM ET. Tune in with your students to learn about their research, hear their presentations and learn how your students can participate in next year’s challenge.
      • On Saturday, October 21st join us at the Fall VirtCon from the comfort of your own home, learn how your peers are using Discovery Education in their classroom, hear how they solve problems, and experience Discovery.
      • For more upcoming events, access the Event Calendar.
    • Be sure to visit the DEN Online Community for the conversations happening in the discussion threads, but also don’t miss the library- filled with items shared by fellow Discovery Educators.
    • As always, we’ll leave you with a little #DENspiration
