Happy Sunday, Twitter family! My name is Robin Porter, and I am the VP of Digital Content at Discovery Education.
We’re incredibly proud of our collection of more than 200,000 high-quality digital content resources. And that collection continues to grow. In fact, we add and curate hundreds of new resources every month into our award-winning channels in Experience. I’m so excited to take you through some of our newest channels for This Week at DE!
In case you missed it, we announced several exciting updates to our Science Techbook and STEM Connect services. As part of those updates, we have refreshed and added hundreds of new resources to our STEM Careers Channel, powered by the STEM Careers Coalition, that features a diverse collection of STEM professionals around the globe who are doing amazing things to solve real-world problems.
We’ve also just launched two new channels exclusive to Discovery Education Experience: The Best of Interactives and Phenomenal Science channels. The Best of Interactives channel curates hundreds of our favorite interactives from Experience, Science, Social Studies and Math Techbooks all in one location. Students can explore 3-D simulations of the human body, grow a virtual garden, participate in the debates of our Founding Fathers, and even defend themselves from an army of skeletons using absolute values.
The Phenomenal Science channel showcases a brand new video series produced by our content team that inspires curiosity using real-word natural science phenomena. Each video encourages students to observe a phenomenon, ask questions, and use their understanding of science to explain what they see and predict what happens next. You’ll also find a corresponding collection of instructional resources in the channel.
You can explore all of these in the link above, and send us a tweet to let us know what your favorite new channel is!
We also want to encourage you to help your students take ownership of their digital lives in honor of Digital Citizenship Week which starts tomorrow. Explore resources in both English and Spanish in our Common Sense Education channel that focus on timely topics like social media, screen time, digital citizenship, and privacy and security.
That’s it for now. Thanks for joining us and we hope you’ll come back every Sunday evening to learn what’s new this week at DE!
