This Week at DE: Week of November 29

Hi everyone! My name is Maria Truitt, and I’m the Senior Video Producer and Editor on the Global Marketing team at Discovery Education.  I produce create videos for our marketing campaigns, along with some virtual field trips and other content pieces.

We hope you had a great Thanksgiving weekend and are ready to start the last month of the year! Have you already had your holiday decorations up or did you wait until after Thanksgiving? Reply to the tweet and let me know!

Speaking of the holidays…we have some pretty awesome resources in Discovery Education Experience to kick off December. There are dedicated channels for HanukkahChristmas and Kwanzaa that include instructional resources and interactive media to immerse students in the history of the holidays. Each channel also features original content developed by Discovery Education as part of our Celebrate with DE series. No matter which holiday you recognize around the world, it’s important for students to explore the diverse ways we celebrate and get into the spirit with holiday-themed activities.

And as a video producer, I have to throw in a reminder about some amazing new Virtual Field Trips we launched last month that are now available to watch on-demand! Students can hang out with polar bears in Canada, hear personal experiences about body positivity from other kids like them, or meet four amazing innovators who are solving real-world problems using data. Each Virtual Field Trip also includes corresponding instructional materials to help engage students in discussion.

Send us a tweet and tell us which resources you’re diving into this month! Thanks for watching and we’ll see you next week!
