Cinco De Mayo

On May 5, celebrate Cinco de Mayo, a holiday that commemorates the Mexican army’s victory over the French at the Battle of Puebla on May 5, 1862. Cinco de Mayo is a chance for Mexicans all over the world to show their national pride by playing music, cooking traditional dishes, dancing, and being with family. Malcom X Day

Born Malcolm Little, rights activist Malcolm X found throughout much of his career, including his transformation after his pilgrimage to Mecca, that people misunderstood his intentions and his goals. May 19 is Malcom X Day, which is a great chance to learn more about Malcom X’s career and contributions to the Civil Rights Movement.

The American Heart Association and the National Football League, working together with Discovery Education, have joined forces to create NFL PLAY 60. The channel’s custom set of lessons, videos and interactive activities, are meant to inspire physically active lifestyles in schools and provide students nationwide with the tools they need to get the necessary 60 minutes or more of physical activity each day.
