It’s Teacher Appreciation Week and we couldn’t be more excited! Here at Discovery Education, every week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We are so grateful and so proud to be part of your daily lessons. To commemorate this annual May celebration, we want to share five things we absolutely love about our educators.
1. Teachers are always looking for new and creative ways to engage students.
Teachers don’t just share information with their students, they find exciting ways to immerse their students in new content, help them make connections to prior knowledge, and inspire them to be curious. Planning an engaging lesson is no small feat, especially when it comes to helping students progress in academic skills that they may have varying levels of current performance or interest in. We love to hear stories of innovative teaching and to see the impact teachers have on their students!
2. Teachers always discover the best in every situation.
A school year is full of fun moments like first days, celebrations, and conversations with students, but they also require hard work and dedication. Teachers are known for finding the best in every situation and being quick on their feet when it comes to problem solving. Even when faced with challenges like trying new technology or scouring through resources to find the right one for a lesson, teachers may get tired, but they do not give up in the face of uncertainty.
3. Teachers are life-long learners.
Teaching is a profession where every day, month, and year is different. Teachers reflect and make adjustments to lessons (sometimes on the fly) to ensure they are meeting students’ needs, sharing the most up-to-date information, and utilizing new resources. To keep up with all of these changes, teachers have to be lifelong learners! We love that teachers are dedicated to inspiring learning for their students and continue to be learners themselves.
4. Teachers support teachers.
Teachers are one of the best resources for other teachers! New teachers are often paired with mentors, teachers collaborate in school-based teams, and many teachers also join professional networks to connect with other colleagues from around their state, country, or even the entire globe! We love that teachers find connections everywhere they can and are a great resource to each other.
5. Teachers have the power to change lives.
Teachers spend all day with their students and while it can be exhilarating, it can also be exhausting! We love that teachers have the power to help students discover a love for learning, nurture their curiosities about different topics, and even introduce them to options for their futures. Teachers are powerful, impactful people, and as students grow, it is often the teachers they remember about their school journeys.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week! Here at Discovery Education, we appreciate the hard work teachers put into their classrooms every day and appreciate the efforts of all educators.
